With a long tradition of excellent quality, Flatiron mandolins have a legendary reputation among mandolin players for good reason. What makes this particular instrument so special is that it is one of the highly sought after Steve Carlson-signed pre-Gibson models crafted in Bozeman, considered to be the crème de la crème of an already prestigious line. Mr. Carlson, a Boulder native, started building Flatiron mandolins in 1980 and seven years later sold the company to Gibson. The instruments made in Bozeman during this period are renowned for their impeccable craftsmanship and beautiful tone.
This A-style artist model has a deep, pure tone with a very warm midrange and a neck that feels great moving all the way up the fretboard. Featuring a spruce top and beautifully flamed maple back, sides, and neck, Flatiron's amazing craftsmanship is on full display with this instrument. Solid spruce top. Solid maple back & sides. Hard case included.
