It has come to my attention that I do not know the definition of a mandolin. This is a phenomenal baritone mandolin, hand crafted in Longmont, CO by the famous Rono! A true pioneer in the instrument world, Rono popularized the idea of the baritone mandolin over a quarter century ago. Rono crafted a solid body electric mandolin possessing 5 strings, tuned like an octave mandolin with a high B string. This model from Rono was built with a solid alder wood body, a 3 piece maple neck, a single humbucker pickup, hand crafted pearl inlays on the fingerboard, and an unbleached bone nut. At a traditional 14” scale, this unique instrument is the same scale length as a mandolin, but differs from its counterpart in just about every other way.
