Visually striking acoustic/electric bass, built by Taylor in 1998. The Taylor AB-2 acoustic-electric basses are considered by many to be among the best-sounding and most balanced acoustic basses. They were designed by Steve Klein and Robert Taylor and produced in limited numbers between 1996 and 2003. The AB-2 bass is akin to a work of art, commanding your attention with a startling 19" wide body, and surrounded by gorgeous design, excellent tone woods, and an off-center soundport. The neck is mahogany, and the headstock is finger jointed. The neck continues into the body and attaches to an internal skeleton frame that transfers string pressure to the sides of the guitar, leaving the top free to vibrate. Features a Fishman ABGP-2 Pickup/Preamp with volume and contour controls mounted on the upper bass shoulder. The AB-2 has 24 frets on an ebony fretboard, ebony nut (neck width at the nut is 1-5/8"), phenolic saddle, Imbuia bridge, Imbuia headstock overlay, venetian cutaway, chrome plated Grover tuners, and a Steve Klein signature fretboard inlay. All of this and a contoured body makes for a balanced bass that is surprisingly easy to play. Solid spruce top. Solid Imbuia (Brazilian Walnut) back & sides. Very good condition. Original deluxe Taylor padded gig bag included.
